Valerie has nearly seven years of comic editing experience, with Valiant/Acclaim and DC, as well as experience in Internet marketing and nonprofit organizations. She is also writing the upcoming “Cloak & Dagger” for Marvel Comics, and has maintained the blog Occasional Superheroine.
Recording Secretary: Chari Pere
A native New Yorker, Chari Pere is the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards, and recently graduated from the School of Visual Arts with a B.F.A. in cartooning. In addition to working as a freelance cartoonist and participating in frequent group exhibitions, the artist is a proud former member of MAD Magazine’s “Usual Gang of Idiots.”
Membership Secretary: Jenny Christopher
Jenny is the Sales Director for BOOM! Studios. She has also been a Purchasing Brand Manager for Diamond Comics Distributors.
Public Relations: Adalisa Zarate
Adalisa is the editor of the Anime y Manga Colecci’n de Luxe in Mexico City, and she has been working in the industry in different roles since she was sixteen, when she made her professional debut with a comic book titled I. Doll. Since then she has worked on three different mainstream magazines, and two self-published ones as an artist and a writer, as well as many projects as a translator, writer and editor. “While the problems of bringing new readers to comic books are quite different in Mexico than in the USA, I bring a different perspective to the board.”
Treasurer: Randi Mason
A Friends of Lulu member since the late 1990s, Randi Mason has over five years of experience working with a national non-profit professional association. She is the acting treasurer for Friends of Lulu’s New York chapter.
